MonaLisa Touch

MonaLisa Touch Treatment is a minimally invasive, non-surgical laser therapeutic procedure used to counteract the effects of vaginal atrophy and post-menopausal changes.

It was developed as a non-hormonal treatment for patients who had previously undergone treatment for cancer and for whom hormone replacement therapy was not an option.

What Is Vaginal Atrophy?

As women age, their bodies begin to produce less estrogen. This can cause the walls of the vagina to become thinner, drier and less elastic. As a result, many women with vaginal atrophy experience uncomfortable or painful urinary symptoms and painful intercourse.

Vaginal atrophy not only affects pre-menopausal and menopausal women, but also those who have undergone chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or some forms of hormonal treatments.

How Can MonaLisa Touch Laser Treatment Help?

MonaLisa Laser Treatment is a life changing treatment available in Australia since 2013. It is a revolutionary treatment approved by FDA that creates lasting improvements for women affected by the symptoms of vaginal atrophy, which include:

  • Vaginal itching and burning

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Loss of lubrication

  • Vaginal laxity (loss of elasticity)

  • Painful sexual intercourse

MonaLisa Touch is a low-level procedure and the treatment course is usually made up of three 3-minute laser sessions in the consulting rooms, each six weeks apart. No anaesthesia or painkillers are required, and patients do not experience any downtime. The therapy is designed to regenerate vaginal tissue and restore blood supply, promoting rehydration and recovery of normal function.

Compared to other current treatment options that simply treat the symptoms of vaginal atrophy, such as creams or Hormone Replacement Therapy, the Mona Lisa Treatment directly addresses the causes, resulting in long-term results for patients.
